Post Reported for Being a Monk

Yesterday i started a monk to play in ab because i never did make a monk and wanted to try it out. My first match was good, everything went ok, people told me that i was really good. I was pretty excited that everything went ok and that i did good for my first time. Today was a different story...i was playing monk in ab and joined a group. The first few minuets when ok, we were capping good, then a kurzick group attacked. My group was me a monk, a sin, a ele, and a ranger. The ele ran right into the group and started flaming everyone and so the kurzicks attacked him first. As i tried to heal a mes hexed my with VoR and diversion so i couldnt really heal. I was able to take VoR off and attemped to heal the ele and the mes kept intrupting me. Soon a ranger crippled and poisoned me so healing anyone was not an option because i was hexed and as i tried to remove the hex i was intrupted. I soon died and my group died after me too. The ele got mad and started saying everyone in the game sucked and were noobs. The ele was spawned before me and ran off into the Kurzick fort and i was out of range to follow him so i went with another ele to cap. He used his skills while i healed him, soon after i got a message from the ele on my team that said i was a horrible monk and i sucked. Then i got a report for leeching which i was healing so i did not know why i was reported for LEECHING. I thought i just staying through the game to help but he kept saying stuff so i left. Then i got a bunch of pm from him saying that i was a nob and that i sucked and my build is noobish.

Im just wanting to know what i can do if i go into ab again and get reported for doing my job. One of my guildies said report him for reporting me for misuse. I put alot into buying the games and skill packs so i dont want my account to be banned. Im pretty sure next time i play in ab that i will get reported again from the same person. What can i do?

thanks for reading too even though its long

Ignore the idiot. There are several different kinds of reporting. First of all, reporting for leaching is an automated system. If not enough people report you for leeching, then the guy who abused the system and reported you is the one who gets in trouble (he in effect, for faking a report, gets reported himself).
Even if you get punished for leeching, the punishment is only in game dishonor, which is kinda like a 10 minute timeout (just leave the game on and go eat a snack).

In fact, that guy was breaking the rules. You could easily have reported him for harassment and get his account banned temporarily.

Morale of the story, to play PvP you kinda have to have thick skin. Ignore the idiots and you'll be fine.

I think you shouldn't have to worry too much about being reported when only one person reports you. It's when half your team does that you get tagged as a leecher (meaning you can't PvP for 10 minutes).

AB=noob central now, and truthfully if they really rely on a monk to cap then something is wrong. Ingore those ass clowns and just play and enjoy the game like you want too NOT like someone else want you to play it

Report him back if you ever can. That's total misuse. Personally I think the group was unbalanced though. 3/4 of you were long ranging, right?

well my team would either run away from kurzick and leave me to die or just go there own way and leave me with other teams

I liked using Healing Burst because it heals others for 25 or whatever but i changed it to WoH and made my own build.

Na, the guy was abusing the system. It happens. My friend's team got dishonoured because some team decided to grief them and /reported the eight other allies.

Besides, if the ele was the only one, you now know who never to group with again.

Don't worry. If you intend on AB monking, and if you're good, you'll get people who want you on their flists purely for ABing. But first you need the thick skin to stand it all, hey? Some people think monk = 'follows me around like a good little puppy the whole match', and will yell at you if you deviate from the type of play they want. Or they'll dump the blame on you even if it's entirely their fault that they died.

Just take it in your stride, and have fun.

It sounds like you main problem is that you are Luxon instead of Kurzick. JJ

You will always run into idiots in PVP, correction...You will always run into idiots in Guild Wars. Just ignore them because they are probably insecure with thier own abilities. An ele in AB should be capping, not running into groups. Sounds like he was the noob.

Just follow the advise from HawkofStorms and the others that have posted and you'll be fine.

Unlucky there dude, you formed a party with one of the many idiots of PVP, scratch the surface and you will find many more, but somewhere within the relms of PVP are nicer people. Just learn to /ignore these people.

And btw leeching is not an account-bannable offense. You will just earn dishonourable points which will ban you from entering a PVP game for 10ish minutes. Nothing too bad.

Initially he was wrong for reporting you. But you earned that report the instant you bailed on the other 10 people, you deserved it.

Being a monk is hard. Your the most wanted profession in guild wars and when your teams fails. They blame you. I had that happen to me many times. That person that reported you is an idiot that thinks he's good and all you have to do is keep him alive while a team is targeting you.

Friends>Guildies>Alliance>Pugs

Sucks you had to encounter such a _____________. Next time, instead of leaving the match (you had the right idea by abandoning the ____________ to his/her fate IMHO, but there's no need to bail on the other 10 people there), Report the ______________ for "Verbal Abuse" and then put the little _____________ on IGNORE!!!

If the ______________ leaves the district/battle before you can use the /report, take a SS of the chat and report him via e-mail through GW Support (ask a question).

PVP brings out the worst in gamers. AB brings out the worst PVP. That idiot probably knew if he reported u he would be the one in trouble. Next time someone claims this just ignore it. Most of the time they are lying. Anet needs to get a handle on all the reporting systems and abuses in the game.

But bailing earns you dishonourable points by default, so in that sense you're auto-punished for leaving the match anyway. Someone abusing the system to report you is an entirely different matter. Although since he was the only one that reported it, I think it just backfired on him. So OP's safe.

Don't worry, he will get dishonour points if less than 4 people report a leecher.

ArenaNet won't even look into it unless you're reported by half a team - and even so, i'm sure you couldn't get banned, and if you DID, it would easily be appealed. Even though that would suck.

banned??? appealed??? it's only dishonourable points at the worst case scenario.

well, since you've admitted that you're new to Monking in PvP there are a few things you should know:

1. at first stick to wiki builds, yes some of them are crap and there could be better builds. BUT as a new Monk you wont know how to make these *better* builds so instead of using sub par builds like the Healing Burst that you've mentioned just stick with them until you get a better idea of what works and what doesnt, and also of course your own preffered style.

2. Monks are the key, your own team will blame you for their failure while the enemy team will *Monk Bash* you. be prepared for it, which means first of all being aware of the situation, than bringing adequate self defensive skills to deal with some basic Monk Bashing. last thing you can do, which will take experience and practice is battlefield awareness and positioning yourself properly.

3. AB is a really bad place for PvP Monking, unless you're with a friend/guild group. Monk in an AB PuG is just bad, and usually turns out like the insident you've described, without the reporting part perhaps. start in RA than when you get better go to TA than either HA or GvG, or just stick with TA.

4. most important thing, dont let people discourage you. there are plenty of terrible Monks around, which is why everyone is suspicious of them. however there are plenty of terrible Warriors, Sins, Eles, Dervs, etc so it's not all that different, just that Monk is the key profession of the team.
